Roy was born in Denver but grew up in Indiana where he played guitar in several rock bands. Roy graduated from DePauw University, majoring in French literature and studying abroad at the Ecole Superieure de Commerce in Burgundy, France. Afterwards, Roy returned to Denver and earned his Master of Arts in anthropology. He then moved to Buenos Aires where he lived for nearly two years while working at several non-profit organizations.
Roy has been editor for the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy and has also clerked for Hon. Kirk Samelson. He has also worked at the largest law firm in South America: Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal. Roy added his practice to MPS in 2010 and now represents individuals and businesses throughout Colorado – focusing primarily on bankruptcy, civil litigation and corporate services. In the rare event Roy is not in the office, he is either traveling, playing tennis or walking the dogs.
